So as you've seen a few weeks ago, i started a new hobby. carving. my first attempt was "wrong" I found out that carving is similar to the a stamp, what stands out is what is printed. So this is my second attempt. the image in black is what will print.

today was a cold and blistery day. You can't tell it in this picture but i had stepped outside to capture the large flurries. this is the fence on our side yard. i love the textures of it. so far since we moved into the apartment in september we really having utilized this yard. but we are hoping to have campfires. So many good conversations in my life have taken place by a firepit. random, i know

today we added a blessing to our blessing jar. Thanks to courtney and lauren this great wedding gifts serves as a reminder of God's blessings. When you see God at work you add your blessings, then when times come when you are gloomy you can recount his many blessings. it is a cool things.

'wear red for haiti'

Yesterday was Martin Luther King Day, and I was encouraged at where our country has grown in our prejudices, and acceptance. After last week's tragedy in haiti so many people have responded. Starbucks is even doing a donation. the company is donating money, as well as offering customers a way to donate. that is cool, i am glad i work for a company who cares enough to be motivated to action. right now i am wearing red

the finished product

Jan. 16

This morning i worked, then allen and i spent some time wondering the a few antique stores. while in joe ley, i found a stack of old post cards and family photos.  I was struck with a thought; as i am taking these pictures of the people and things that are important to me, in years to come it will mean about the same as the stack of pictures in my hands.  friendly, odd faces that i don't recognize.  someone may find interest in them, but not the original intent that i meant.

So, what does this mean... do i stop enjoying the pictures i've taken or not take them at all?  no, I proceed, but with the reminder that life is momentary.  I can learn and enjoy the past, and look forward to my present and future.

these pictures also inspired to make a collage of some of the pictures and things that i have found over the years.  Result of creativity to come...

Jan. 9

Allen and I won tickets to the U of L Vs. Saint Johns College.  St. Johns is in NY, Allen attended there before transfering to Johnson.  I think we were the only ones rooting for the visitors. our team lost.

I love the movement in the pictures.
Jan. 8

My manager, kevin, at Starbucks is transfering stores so we threw him a goodbye party at a local Irish pub, Molly Malones.  This is Kevin and I.  As he wrote that nights:

"May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door."

Jan. 7

Louisville experienced snow.  The ruler indicates about 3 inches.
Jan. 6

I moved to Louisville in July of 2007.  I started volunteering at the 930 that fall and have been there since.  this day i was prepping the walls.  patching holes and getting the wall back to white.  That wall has been so many colors, gray, green, chartreuse, teal,  brown, pink, olive green.  but this is a first to paint it white.

This months show is by Joe Johnson and Travis Shaffer.  The two exhibit images from megachurches around the country.  check out more www.the930.org

I closed at Starbucks tonight, and just snuck my picture in right before midnight.  the night now is a blur, they seem to blend together.

Jan. 3

Cinnamon Dolce Latte.

I work at Starbucks, I've been there over a year and a half.  I find that I get addicted to drinks, doubleshot on ice, strawberry and creme with chocolate, peppermint white hot chocolate with nonfat milk but with whip, brewed coffee with cream, and of course the cinnamon dolce latte.  That is my current addiction.  yum.

Jan. 2
Roadtrip for the Leddy's.  Today allen and I went on a road trip.  We went to Ohio, to Ikea, Gap clearance outlet and had dinner with my sister Emily and my brother in law Nick.  Emily tossed that salad probablly 20 times.  It was killing me!

Here's the first 14 days of January:

A classic game of Yahtzee; a staple in my family.

January 15th, 2009

so day one. this year allen and i made a resolution to take daily pictures.  so far i have only missed this last tuesday.  I am learning that the things in life that are most precious are the little things.  The family, friends, hobbies.  I love taking pictures, they are not always good. but they are my life and the things i enjoy and the things i experience.

Today's picture is our finances.  I am attempting to make a budget.  it is consuming most of my thoughts today. My church has been going through the book of Proverbs, last week Daniel preached on wealth.  I just saw how much I can grow in this area.  How much things and money consume my thoughts and energy.  is there a problem with material possessions?  The things in and of themselves, i don't think so.  But how you go about obtaining them, do you live and die for getting new gadgets or clothes (or in my case my discounted target shoes)?  I am definately guilty as of late of letting money run my life.
